The original Josie video!!!! No way!! I remember a few years ago me and some other people were trying to get the director to release the whole video but he said no, unless the guys from Blink approved of it. It turns out 8 months ago he posted a 39 second clip of it on vimeo. Can’t believe i never saw this till now but i never thought anyone would see it.

Some people are going to wonder what all the fuss is about but i know fellow Blink fans will apprecaite me posting about this.
It’s not even that well known about in the first place actually so this is pretty cool even tho the video does kinda suck.

Here is an extract from the book ‘Tales From Beneath Your Mom’ talking about the video:

Few fans know that the familiar “Josie” video, featuring Alyssa Milano, is actually the second video blink-182 shot for the song. Originally, the band attempted to film a video with a more “serious” look. They turned to a new director. Not only was it the band’s first time working with the director, it was the director’s first video ever.

In this video, the band was to be practicing in a basement. One of the musicians accidentally hits a pipe with his guitar, causing a significant leak. The basement fills with water, but the band plays on. Ultimately, the band is completely underwater.

Though the bands had some hesitations about the premise, they were willing to give it a shot. They almost immediately regretted their decision. “Filming the first ‘Josie’ video was awful. We had to spend hours submerged in water, swimming around in this tank thing. We had to bring old equipment that we were willing to ruin. It was no fun,” Mark remembers.

Tom agrees, “All I remember about filming that video was that it was freezing cold. It was like forty degrees and we either had to be underwater, or sprayed down with water. I cut my head open on shrapnel that was floating around in the water. It sucked.”

After all of that, the band didn’t even like the resulting video. They were unhappy with the look of the video and didn’t feel it worked for the song. “After all we went through, it didn’t even look cool. It just looked like we were playing in some water or something,” Tom comments.

Unwilling to release the video as it was, blink-182 scrapped the project completely. They turned instead to director Darren Doane who had filmed their two earlier videos. “We knew Darren could do something funny for us. We liked what he had done with ‘M&Ms’ and ‘Dammit,’ so we trusted he could do something good with this. And we were stoked with how ‘Josie’ turned out. It’s awesome,” Mark adds.
